This ministry is a joint initiative by the UEC church in Nigeria and Mission Africa and is headed by Billy and Linda Abwa. It aims to help prevent the further spread of HIV/AIDS through education, reduce the stigmatization of people living with HIV/AIDS and enable the church to compassionately care for those affected.
ADVANCE educates and trains workers within the church throughout the country. It also runs AIDS Care Centres and supports community outreach teams to provide counselling and home–based care, conduct HIV tests, and organise community prevention programmes.
One such care and counselling clinic is the ADVANCE Donegore Centre, built several years ago by a Mission Africa church team. It’s based in the rural village of Ogugu in Kogi State, and in a region with a very high HIV/AIDS rate.
