Dr Mark Nixon
Meet Mark! Mark, originally from England currently serves as a New Testament Lecturer at Peter Achimugu College of Theology (PACT).
Mark has been serving in Ankpa, Kogi state, Nigeria at Peter Achimugu College of Theology (PACT). He works closely with the existing team at the college as well as supporting local churches through teaching and preaching.
Mark was born in Portsmouth and lived in the south of England until 2002. He became a Christian at the age of 14 after responding to the Gospel at a Christian Camp and subsequently was baptised a short while later. In 2002 he moved to Orkney to be teaching elder at a church there and part of the leadership team. Whilst there he commenced his theological studies and obtained a BTh through distance learning. In 2012 he moved to Aberdeen to study at the University where he obtained an MTh and PhD. His area of research was the constant components of the Gospel proclamation across the writers of the New Testament. Whilst in Aberdeen Mark has been a member of Christ Central church.
Mark has always had a desire to teach the Word of God and has taught in both the church and academic settings. His ‘specialism’ is the New Testament and he is particularly keen that younger people, particularly those with a call into evangelism or church ministry, should have a love for God’s written Word, have a passion to declare it and be effective in their proclamation of it. For the Word of God transforms us throughout our Christian lives. Mark's great desire is that, by gaining the tools necessary to understand and appreciate God’s Word, coupled with the indwelling Holy Spirit and His grace, those studying at PACT will be personally strengthened in their faith and ministry and be able to bless many others also.
Mark has known the call of God on his life to teach God’s Word for many years. He has been encouraged in his teaching and preaching ministry by many people over the years. Having taught overseas in India at a Bible College Mark felt that teaching overseas full-time was the direction that God wanted him to take. Mark’s hope and prayer is that God will be honoured and the Nigerian people blessed.
