Kathryn Lindsay
Meet Kathryn! A qualified teacher orginially from Northern Ireland but lived in Scotland currently serves in Kenya as Mission Africa's Short Term Coordinator.
Kathryn currently serves in Kenya as Mission Africa's Short Term Coordinator. Her primary role is overseeing Mission Africa teams and short term members coming into Kenya. This will involve establishing links and projects for teams to be involved in, arranging accommodation for them, organising work permits and providing care and support for them when they are in Kenya. It will also involve liaising with the PCEA (Presbyterian Church of East Africa) staff in Kenya in order to build stronger relationships with the Mission. She will also be able to participate in another Ministry – possibly within the Youth Department for the PCEA.
Kathryn was born to Christian parents and grew up close to the village of Claudy, Co. Londonderry. She is the eldest of four girls. Kathryn completed her secondary education in Portadown while her parents worked with the Faith Mission. Her dad is now a Presbyterian minister in Co. Tyrone.
In 2004 Kathryn moved to Scotland to study a Bachelor of Divinity at the University of Aberdeen for four years and then stayed on in Aberdeen to complete her PGDE in Secondary Religious Education. On completion Kathryn moved to South Ayrshire to undertake her NQT year.
In August 2010 Kathryn began her first teaching post as a qualified teacher at Carrick Academy, Maybole – she has been there for 11 years now. During most of this time Kathryn lived in Ayr and was an active member of a Church called Southside Christian Fellowship. She moved up to Glasgow in November 2020 and now worships at the Tron Church at Kelvingrove.
