Katie Morrison
Meet Katie! Katie, a qualified teacher, currently spilts her time between primary school teaching in Northern Ireland and serving as Short Term Coordinator in Nigeria.
Katie has now been accepted on a full time basis as Short Term Coordinator within Nigeria. Her primary role will be overseeing Mission Africa teams and short term workers coming into Nigeria. This will involve travelling to various areas within Nigeria in which our workers are based and providing care and support for them. It will also involve liaising with the Nigerian staff in each area to build stronger relationships with Mission Africa. She will also be able to participate in a further compassionate ministry, working with children and young people.
Katie is the youngest of her family, with two brothers and a sister. She grew up in East Belfast where she has been attending Mountpottinger Baptist Church. She began trusting in Jesus Christ at an early age. Katie’s parents worked in DR Congo for a time during her childhood and, looking back now, she can see how God was beginning to give her a passion and heart for the people of Africa even at that young age.
In 2005 Katie studied Early Childhood Development at Stranmillis University College. On completion of this she became a Classroom Assistant, working for three years in a local primary school. She went on to complete a postgraduate qualification in primary teaching at Liverpool Hope University in 2011 and returned to Belfast and taught for two years. In September 2016, Katie began a Higher Education Certificate in Theology at the Belfast Bible College for a period of one year.
Since 2010, Katie has served on a number of Mission Africa summer teams in Nigeria. Additionally, in 2014, Katie spent 15 months as a short term missionary in Ogugu, Kogi State. Throughout this time she has continued to have a passion and heart for the people and work within Nigeria. As she looks back over the past number of years, she has been able to see God’s hand using each experience and challenge to continually mould and shape her life.
